What is Mental Health First Aid?
  • Mental Health First Aid is an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.

  • Mental Health First Aid won’t teach you to be a therapist, but just like physical first aid, it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis.

Mental Health Refresher

Empower Mental Health First Aiders and MHFA Champions to maintain their skills with regular Refresher training.

The four hour Refresher course will support your Mental Health First Aiders and MHFA Champions by:

  • Renewing their skills

  • Updating their knowledge of mental health supports

  • Giving them the chance to practice applying the Mental Health First Aid action plan

What to expect when you attend the four hour course:

Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities.

Enabling your Mental Health First Aiders and MHFA Champions to refresh their skills, the same way your physical first aiders do, is a great way to demonstrate your organisation’s commitment to treating mental health and physical health equally.

We limit numbers to 25 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn.

Everyone who completes the course receives:
  • An MHFA manual to refer to whenever they need it

  • A workbook including ways to refresh your skills

  • A certificate of attendance to say they you are Mental Health First Aid Refreshed

Adult Mental Health Refresher courses are for everyone aged 16 upwards who has previously a attended a Mental Health First Aid or Champion course.

The Refresher course is 'refreshing'

The course helps to reinvigorate the skills learnt on previous MHFA courses. It's great for anyone who has completed their course in the last three years.

The opportunity to discuss best practice and the ability to keep yourself safe. To share the skills you have demonstrated since becoming a Mental Health First Aider or Champion is very helpful.
